Gifts in Wills have helped to keep Queenscourt Hospice in service for over 30 years.
Adding a Gift in your Will to Queenscourt Hospice, is one of the biggest ways you can help make a difference to local people facing a life-limiting illness. A Gift in your Will to Queenscourt helps us to continue providing exceptional compassionate care, today, tomorrow and for many years to come.
Leaving a Gift costs nothing today and yet makes a significant difference to those we care for tomorrow.
Your Legacy
However big or small, a Gift in your Will is such a kind gesture, once you have ensured that your loved ones have been considered and looked after.
It represents who you are and what you care about, it is Your Legacy.
It could be a monetary value, property, a collection of designer handbags or a sports car for example. All gifts are personal and tell a story, and each and every gift is equally important to Queenscourt.
It also sets out your wishes to your family, friends and those around you so that they know what is important to you when you die.
Why leave a Gift to Queenscourt Hospice?
- Many choose to leave Queenscourt a Gift in their Will as a way of saying thank you for the care and support received by a loved one, or for care they have received themselves, so that future generations can also benefit from our specialist palliative support.
- Queenscourt is a local charity that has been providing free end-of-life care for over 30 years, with our official opening taking place in 1992 by the late Princess Diana. Over the years our vital services have changed and adapted to meet the growing needs of our wider community.
- Last year we provided free Specialist Palliative Care for over 2,000 patients and supported their loved ones during such a challenging time.
- It costs over £555 an hour to keep Queenscourt in service, so that we can continue to provide exceptional compassionate care 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
- As an independent voluntary and charitable organisation, we receive less than 21% of our funds from statutory bodies and we need to make up the remaining 79% of our annual income from charitable donations and other sources. Legacies and In Memory donations play a crucial part in achieving this income.

- Your gift will enable our Doctors, Nurses and Health Care Professionals to care for our In-Patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- Your gift will allow us to help our patients with pain management so they can make the most of what time they have left
- Your gift will help us to make memories for our patients and their loved ones
- Your gift will help our patients to be cared for in their own home, if that is their wish, by enabling our Queenscourt at Home Team to go out at all times and in any weather to care for patients at home.
- Your gift will help us to provide Family Support and Bereavement Services for our patients and their loved ones.
Types of Gifts in Wills
There are different ways you can leave us a Gift in your Will, and all are equally important to us, however big or small:
- Specific Gift: This is a particular item or set of items, or a property or portfolio of properties. When a Specific Gift is left to a charity, it is left in the knowledge that the charity will benefit from the sale of those goods.
- Pecuniary Gift: This is a gift of a specific amount of money.
- Residuary Gift: This is gift of what is left of an estate after payment of all debts, expenses and other gifts.
Leaving a Gift is Simple
There are different ways to make a Will and the way you choose to do so will depend on whether you require professional help when making your Will. It is always advisable to seek professional help as there are various legal formalities you need to follow to ensure that your Will is valid. Making a Will without professional help could cause problems for your family, friends and any causes close to your heart, after your death.
At Queenscourt we have a selection of local Solicitors who support us each year with our annual Make a Will Month that takes place in April. During April these Solicitors will write basic Single and Mirror Wills in return for a donation to Queenscourt.
