Care We Provide
Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides end of life support and care for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.
Queenscourt Hospice has been providing Compassionate Care for the people of West Lancashire, Formby and Southport for over 30 years. We care for patients with serious illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life at each new stage.
We care for patients both in the hospice and at home through our In-Patient Unit, Queenscourt Connect and Queenscourt at Home services. Queenscourt requires over 100 professional staff members to stay open, including Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Physiotherapists and many other roles.
Physical Care
Our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and therapists strive to ensure that those in their care achieve the best quality of life, for as long as possible.
We help patients:
- Get debilitating symptoms under control such as pain and breathlessness
- Retain their independence with specialist equipment
- Stay as active as possible through physiotherapy sessions
Emotional & Psychological Care
When you want to make the most of every moment, the right support is essential. Finding out that you, or someone you are close to, has a life-limiting illness can have a huge impact on emotional and psychological wellbeing.

- Taking an holistic approach so that clinical care such as symptom control and pain relief, is provided alongside emotional and psychological support.
- Providing tailored care that reflects the needs of the individual and their loved ones.
- Creating a safe space where you can talk about how you feel to someone who isn’t a friend or family member.
Social Care
When someone is diagnosed with a life limiting illness, everyone around them is affected, often in ways that they don’t expect.
Our Social Care Team are here to help with practical as well as emotional support including:
- Signposting to agencies that can assist with Welfare benefits, housing, transport, e.g. disabled parking badge scheme.
- Providing advocacy where needed.
- Identifying, assessing and meeting your care and support needs to maximise your independence, choice and control.
Spiritual Care
We recognise that spiritual and religious needs can vary for each individual, and that priorities may include:
- Accessing the support of a faith community
- Exploring sources of comfort and joy, for example through music and the arts
- Developing relationships with family and friends to build hope and strength
Compassionate Care is available for our patients and their loved ones in this regard, whenever it is needed.
