Queenscourt’s Beehive Family is Growing!
Queenscourt Hospice is delighted to welcome the newest member to the Beehive Family – our mini bee Bumble.
Bumble is a soft toy who has arrived to bring a little extra sunshine and support – and also to keep Queenie company!
Bumble will play an important role in Queenscourt’s Family Support Services, by being available to support children during a challenging time.
Queenscourt Family Support Services consists of specialist Palliative Care Professionals who work with families to support children facing or dealing with the loss of someone close to them.
By providing children with a Bumble toy, they will have a special keepsake from Queenscourt that they can hopefully see as a friend to talk to if they are feeling lonely or confused.
Over the summer, we asked our supporters to vote for their favourite name via a social media poll – and Bumble came out on top!
Alex Kenrick, Clinical Lead Nurse at Queenscourt Hospice said: “It is important to appreciate that we all grieve differently, and supporting families and children, by using age-appropriate resources and language is key.
“Giving children and young people the chance to talk through their feelings and be able to express their emotions in a way that is comfortable for them, e.g. through talking or creative therapy, is vital when dealing with such a difficult time in their lives.”
Bumble is also available to buy via Queenscourt Reception and in our high street shops for £8.50 each or two for £15.
Kate Tipton-Thomas, Head of Income Generation and Communications, added: “We are delighted to welcome Bumble as the latest addition to #teamqueenscourt.
“Bumble is already proving to be very popular amongst our supporters and staff.
By buying a Bumble, you are helping to generate much-needed income for our charity, so that #teamqueenscourt can continue to provide exceptional compassionate care for our patients and their loved ones, when they need us the most.
