Gift in Kind Allows Queenscourt’s Trees to Shine Bright this Christmas

Community | 24 November 2022

Thousands of new lights have been installed at Queenscourt Hospice by local business IllumiDex as part of a ‘gift in kind’.

IllumiDex is a family run lighting firm based in Southport, specialising in Christmas decorations and light displays. Over the past few weeks, the company took down all of the old lighting which no longer worked, and installed brand new LED lights in the trees with three colour-changing uplighters.

The transformation comes at a perfect time, as Queenscourt announced the return of its annual Lights of Love appeal – which sees the Hospice’s trees illuminated with lights dedicated to loved ones throughout the Winter months.

Jan Clayton, IllumiDex Director, has a special connection to Queenscourt as her mum, Angela Houghton, was cared for by #teamqueenscourt before she died.

Jan said: “We were delighted to support Queenscourt when we heard that they needed their old lights replacing.

“When we went for our first meeting with the team at the hospice about the lights, it took place on the anniversary of my Mum dying there 22 years ago.

“My husband Steve and I said we would do whatever we could to support Queenscourt as it holds a very special place in our hearts. It was our way of saying thank you for what they did for Mum.

“She was only 55 years old when she died, and the care Mum received at the hospice was amazing.”

Liz Hartley, Fundraising Manager at Queenscourt, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the new lights, we can’t thank IllumiDex and their team enough.

“Everyone at Queenscourt is hugely appreciative of their hard work and the fabulous new lights will make our popular Lights of Love Appeal even more special this year.

“By dedicating a light, you are not only celebrating a loved one, you are also enabling #teamqueenscourt to continue providing exceptional compassionate care for over 2000 patients and their loved ones each year, when it is needed the most.”
