James JJ PARKI Parkin Southport Musician

Southport-based songwriter/lyricist JJ Parki has donated 50 copies of his debut CD to Queenscourt in recognition of the support his mum received when she was ill.

The CDs, entitled Café de la musique, are being sold at Queenscourt’s five shops at just £5 each.

It has taken JJ Parki, real name James Parkin, two decades to complete the album which includes collaborations with a variety of artists from three continents. A teacher by profession, James hopes the album will act as motivation to aspiring fellow songwriters and musicians to realise their potential.

Two of the songs on the CD are tributes to James’s late mother, Philippa who sadly died at Christmas. She had been cared for by the Queenscourt at Home team.

“Mum received such great care in the final weeks and months of her life from the Queenscourt at Home team that I thought donating the CDs would be a nice way to thank the Hospice,” said James. “I’m hoping my music will raise some money.”

It would be a fitting tribute, as James credits his mum for helping him to learn to play instruments and discover new music from around the world.

Café de la musique is available to buy at Queenscourt’s shops in Southport, Churchtown, Formby and Burscough. For their full addresses visit www.queenscourt.org.uk/index.php/shops/shop-info.html
