Sharon Guinnane went a couple of steps further than most people to raise money for Queenscourt. Not only did she have her head shaved, but she also gave up chocolate for almost three weeks.
On Day 14 of our Compassionate Communities’ blogs, we learn that Sharon’s sacrifices obviously hit home with many people who between them have helped raise nearly £1,500 so far for Queenscourt.
Now, a few weeks after losing her locks for charity Sharon says: “I don’t regret it for a minute – certainly not from a fundraising perspective, nor from a personal point of view. I was not too phased at the prospect of having my head shaved, but was a little shocked at first when it was done.”
Sharon’s fundraising has been life-changing for her. Not only has she decided to keep her hair short going forward, although not crewcut short, but she has also dramatically cut down her chocolate intake, which for a self-confessed chocaholic is quite an achievement.
“I’m so glad I did it,” she said. “Not only has it raised a lot of money, but it has given everyone I know and work with something to talk about rather than coronavirus. It has given everyone a laugh.”
Sharon has already exceeded her £750 target, but If you would like to donate, you still can at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sharon-guinnane.
