One of our own Trustees at Queencourt, Margaret Tarpey, took on the 2.6 Challenge and set her sights on a fundraising task which proved a big hit with her friends and family - baking cakes and making marmalade.
Margaret, who as well as being a Trustee at Queenscourt is also Chair of both our Retail and Enterprises (Lottery) Boards, decided she wanted to make 26 items in two weeks.
“I really wanted to do something to raise some money for Queenscourt, but I struggled to get flour and Stork margarine,” said Margaret, who lives in Tarleton and is a member of the local Methodist Church. “Fortunately, a lot of my friends rallied around and helped me out by dropping off supplies.”
News of Margaret’s baking challenge soon got around and within no time, the orders came flooding in, with each person making a donation to Queenscourt in return for a delicious goodie. By the end of the fortnight, it became apparent that Margaret’s homemade fruitcake was the people’s favourite, making the whole challenge a recipe for success.
