Three sisters who were overwhelmed by the wonderful care that their father received at Queenscourt Hospice, organised their very own Star Trekk 10K walk and have already raised over £1,000.
Queenscourt’s annual Star Trekk night walk had been due to take place on May 1 but was stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Emma and Becky Horner, and sister Michelle Harwood had all registered to take part in the event, along with their mum Kate, with the intention of doing the fundraising walk in memory of their dad David, who was looked after by #teamqueenscourt.
When they learned the event had been postponed, the sisters decided to continue with their fundraising and hold their own Star Trekk walk, albeit during the day. Sadly, Kate was unable to take part as she is shielding at home, but she fully supported her daughters in their fundraising endeavour.
Emma and Becky walked the original Star Trekk route, but at a safe distance from each other, while Michelle and husband Gareth, walked their own 10K route – all completing it in about two hours.
Emma said: “We had all decided to do the Star Trekk walk after we lost our dad. We just wanted to raise as much money as we could for Queenscourt because our experience of the care they provided for dad, made us realise just how amazing the team at Queenscourt are.”
