Among other things, the badge teaches the girls how to become valuable members of a Compassionate Community and how their actions can help others – a message never so important as now.
Each of the activities has been designed to teach Girl Guides about Queenscourt Hospice and to help inform them about the positive difference these activities make to the lives of patients and families. Unfortunately, the current coronavirus outbreak has meant all meetings of Rainbows, Brownies and Guides have been suspended until the Government lockdown is lifted, which means work towards the Challenge Badge has also been put on hold.
It is hoped, though, that the girls will still be engaging in acts of compassion even though they may be confined to their homes for most of the day. Whether that be helping parents with chores, entertaining siblings or even coming up with fundraising ideas for Queenscourt.
Once they can get back to their Guide, Brownie of Rainbow unit, work will resume on achieving the Queenscourt Challenge Badge.
