Queenscourt will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of our fundraising Santa Sprint in December and we are calling on supporters old and new to sign up today and join in the festivities.
The event, which this year is kindly being sponsored by Silcock Leisure Group, will see hundreds of Santas take to the streets of Southport on Sunday, December 8. Registration will open at 9.30am with the fun run starting at 11am.
We would love you to get in the Christmas spirit and join in this fun event, which has raised over £90,000 over the last nine years and is suitable for all the family - even your pet dog can participate.
In this 10th anniversary year, there will be both a 3K and 5K route for you to walk, jog or run. The routes are also suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and buggies, so there’s even more reason to take part.
Every participant will receive a Santa suit to wear as they make their way along the route, which starts at Southport Pier and goes around the Marine Lake. They will also receive a medal, a complimentary hot drink and Bidfoods will also be giving away free mince pies on the finish line.
Registration is open now at a cost of £20 for adults; £10 for under 16s or £50 for a family of two adults and two children.
Your Santa Sprint registration covers the cost of the event and your Santa suit, but we’d love you all to drum up your own support in the form of sponsorship to maximise the amount of money raised for Queenscourt.
Dianne Gillespie, Event Fundraiser, said: “We are really looking forward to our annual Santa Sprint and have high hopes that this year’s 10th anniversary event will be even bigger and better than before.
“We are grateful to have the sponsorship of Silcock Leisure Group and the support of everyone else who will help make the event a huge success. The Santa Sprint is always such a fun occasion that raises invaluable income for the hospice.
“Queenscourt gives vital care and support to patients from Southport, Formby and West Lancashire completely free of charge. We can’t add days to lives, but with donations from fundraising events such as the Santa Sprint, we can add life to days.
“So, let's bring a flash of red around Southport with hundreds of Santa Claus' spreading the festive fun and burn a few cheeky calories ready for the Christmas holidays.”
